This is a Hatha yoga, breathwork and relaxation session which is suitable for beginners and experienced yogi's alike.  

The session will start with some gentle yoga exercises to warm up the body.  This will be followed by breathwork (pranayama) followed by a simple mindfulness meditation.  

There will be a break halfway through with refreshments, biscuits and cake. Let me know if you have any dietary requirements.

Finally - yoga nidra.  This is also known as yogic sleep and is a guided meditation which is done lying down in savasana.  It creates a deep sense of relaxation in both the body and the mind which leads to s state of relaxed awareness.

The advantage of one-to-one yoga tuition is that the sessions are tailored specifically towards individual needs.

In advance of the first session, a full health questionnaire is completed which includes a section on what you want from the sessions - improved core strength and flexibility, helping with back pain and stress reduction, are common requests.

During the first session, we will make a more thorough assessment of your level of fitness and flexibility and introduce a few basic yoga postures and a tailored meditation which is recorded for you to practice at home.  This helps to design a specific individual programme.

Sessions last 60 minutes and take place within 5 miles of my home on Dialstone Lane, Stockport or through Zoom.  Travel time and mileage costs beyond 5 miles would need to be considered.

Availability right now is Friday daytime (9am – 4pm: last session to start at 3pm).  There is also some availability at weekends and best to get in touch with me directly  to book a slot.

Welcome to this free introduction to Yoga for Backs.

There are 10 short videos in this introduction. It is recommended to schedule some time each day to go through these, they take between 5-10 minutes.

The first video is a 10 minute introduction to the course, and in each of the other videos I show a number of yoga postures to help ease back pain as well as developing core strength and flexibility.

There is also a daily relaxation which takes less than 15 minutes.

Topics I’ll be covering include:
- Yoga techniques to help relieve bad back episodes
- Exercises to improve strength and flexibility (you don’t have to be bendy to do yoga, this comes over time)
- Relaxation techniques for stress relief
